After graduating from the University of Queensland with an Arts degree in Economics and History in 1987, Rob Martin commenced employment as a law/conveyancing clerk with the legal firm Dale & Fallu in Ipswich, Qld.
In 1989 he enrolled in a law degree at the Queensland University of Technology whilst at the same time completing Articles of Clerkship with Bennett Carroll & Gibbons (now Bennett Carroll), one of the largest law firms in Brisbane outside of the CBD.
After graduating with a law degree and becoming admitted to practice as a solicitor in January 1994, Rob remained at Bennett Carroll & Gibbons for several years, eventually rising to the position of Senior Associate in the firm and in the process gaining a wealth of legal experience.
In 2005 Rob Martin established R.D. Martin & Company with the aim of providing legal services specifically tailored to each of his clients’ individual needs and circumstances.
Darren Taylor, B.A., LL.B.
Solicitor
Darren graduated from the University of Queensland with a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1996 and a Bachelor of Laws degree in 1998. After completing articles of clerkship with the Brisbane legal firm Puryer & Co, he was admitted as a solicitor of the Supreme Court of Queensland in 2001. Whilst at Puryer & Co Darren gained considerable experience in a wide range of the law including family law, industrial law, general litigation and criminal law.
Darren subsequently furthered his experience in the litigation section of Brisbane City Legal Practice providing legal advice for Queensland’s largest local government council. Between 2003 and 2007 Darren was employed as a legal officer for a Queensland government regulatory authority.
Darren joined R.D. Martin & Company as a solicitor in early 2009.
Mike McLaws, B.Sc., C.Tech.(Eng.)

Mike joined R.D. Martin & Company in August of 2009. He is a graduate of the University of Calgary, Canada and holds a Bachelor of Science in Geography as well as a professional engineering qualification. Mike worked for a number of years in environmental planning and resources management for multi-national energy and construction companies and most recently for a local council near Calgary, Alberta.
Mike moved to Brisbane at the beginning of 2009 and is currently studying for his Bachelor of Laws at the University of Queensland. His expected graduation date is November 2011. Mike has a particular legal interest in energy and resources law, environment and planning and real estate law.
